The fourth edition of the NociCortinfestival International Shortfilm Festival ended Friday 21 August with great success. The festival, dedicated to short films, is organized by the Cultural Association “Nocicinema” and is sponsored by the municipality of Noci and the province of Bari.

In addition to the screening of short films, the event included theatrical sketches, celebrity guests, and musical performances. The festival took place in Piazza Pebliscito in the heart of the historical centre of Noci. A large audience from across the region attended the festival. After the screening of the 16 short films, winners were chosen both by the official panel of judges and by the audience. The prize for Best Italian short- film went to Nonsostare, starring Paolo Sassanelli and directed by the Gianluca Sportelli from Gioia del Colle.

The prize for the Best foreign short film went to Martin Rosete’s Basket Bronx filmed in Spain and in the United States. The critic’s choice prize went to Hammerhead, a short film from England directed by Sam Donovan. The “Città di Noci” prize, awarded by the audience, went to El mueble de las fotos by the Italian director Giovanni Maccelli.

On the judge’s panel: director, actor and screenwriter Angelo Orlando, actor Salvatore Marino, director Pippo Mezzapesa, journalist Michela Ventrella of the Corriere del mezzogiorno and Monica Ricco representative of Legambiente Bari, Marino Spilotros, coordinator of Circolo Legambiente Bari awarded the short film Peace by Turkish director Tolga H.Yuceil with the special “Ecoland prize” for the best film dealing with an environmental issue.

Special mention went to Se ci dobbiamo andare andiamoci by Vito Palmieri from the municipality of Noci.
The organizers of NociCortinfestival are delighted that this year’s festival continued the tradition of offering superb examples of short films from across the world to a large and enthusiastic audience.
