2009 EDITION

The 4th edition of Nocicortinfestival was a resounding success: we had our largest audience yet, hundreds of short films were submitted by filmmakers from around the world, numerous directors and actors enriched the proceedings with their active participation, and films dealing with the year’s special theme focusing on the environment raised our awareness of issues of fundamental importance to all of us. All this, plus the incomparable beauty of summer evenings in Apulia, made the 4th edition of Nocicortinfestival a truly memorable moment in the lives of all those who attended.

Of the 16 shorts in competition, the prize for the Best Italian Short Film went to director Gianluca Sportelli with “Nonsostare”, while “Basket Bronx” by the Spanish director Martin Rosete won Best Foreign Short Film. The Critic’s Prize was awarded to Sam Donovan of England, while the short “El mueble de las foto” by director Giovanni Maccelli won the City of Noci People’s Prize.

The jury was formed by Angelo Orlando (director, actor and scriptwriter), Salvatore Marino (actor and a well-known personality in the Italian television), Pippo Mezzapesa (director), Michela Ventrella (journalist for the “Corriere del Mezzogiorno”), and Monica Ricco (representative of “Legambiente Bari”).

Marino Spilotros (director of the “Legambiente di Bari”) awarded the prize for the section “Ecoland”, dedicated to films dealing with environmental themes, to the short film “Peace” by Turkish director Tolga H. Yuceil. Honorable mention went to Vito Palmieri for his short “Se ci dobbiamo andare andiamoci”.

2008 EDITION

The 2008 edition was characterised by the international echo the festival reached: over 500 short movies submitted from 50 different countries of origin.

The idea of the third edition was to highlight the relation cinema-music, and therefore Nocicortinfestival turned into a great occasion for artists, musicians, and film makers to meet and start a cooperation in view of future projects.

In the festival participated young film makers such as Vito Palmieri, Pierluigi Ferrandini with “Vietato fermarsi”, Pippo Mezzapesa, Vito Colamarino, the Icelandic Runar Runarsson, and then the journalist and critic Livio Costarella, Piernicola Di Muro, movie soundtrack composer and eventually the famous dubbing actor and film actor Francesco Pannofino, as juror but also entertainer of the festival nights……

2007 EDITION

Nocicortinfestival grows international. The over 150 films coming from UK, Spain, France, Greece, USA, Brazil, China, Germany, The Netherlands, Malaysia, Thailand, etc. attracted also the most sophisticated tastes of movie savvies.

The second edition of Nocicortinfestival introduces the special category “Food&Cinema”. This section is addressed to cinema and food buffs or just curious people, showing images and spots and giving some interesting clues on how the cinema industry can investigate the aspects of cultural and local identity connected to the art of food and cuisine, through manifold forms of expression and historical itineraries.

A further new introduction to the 2007 edition is the category “Very-very-short” movies of maximum length of 100 seconds focussing on the possibilities that development of new technologies (video mobiles, internet, etc.) and their so wide spread employment offer to the world of short movies.

Guests of the second edition were Paolo Sassanelli, Antonio Stornaiolo, Nico Cirasola and Michele Bruno.

2006 EDITION

August 2006: a group of cinema buffs, sharing a creative thread and a strong interest in the art of cinema, decided to give birth to a project that enhances the short movie world.

These are the intents that characterized the first edition of Nocicortinfestival, an international film festival totally devoted to the cinema of short films.

The event, since its early days, obtained great participation and visibility among film directors, national and international film makers and spectators.
The festival boasted over 100 short movies coming from every part of the world and representing all kind of genres from documentary film to video clip, from animation to fiction, from dramatic to comedy movies, animating the main square of the town of Noci Piazza Plebiscito, an amazing set scene and venue of the festival.
